About

Hello and welcome to our community “Morning Feeders”. Let me tell you a little about me and my journey as “The Backyard Nurse”. My name is Jasmine and before I was a nurse or student or mother I was a lover of all things nature. Long walks on a trail, backyard birthday parties and the feeling of waves crashing on my feet at the beach. The open air has always had my heart but of course we can’t daydream of the outdoors forever must grow up. My new-found adulthood demanded a plan that involved money and stability. As an adult I gravitated towards patient-centered care as my nature was to care for someone through acts of service. I began my health care career as a Nursing Assistant and after a year started nursing school. I became a nurse in 2012 and can remember it being a very proud moment for me and my family. I was elated and patients responded well to my bedside manner and skill-set. As years went by it was becoming very apparent that I was suffering mentally and needed to take a break from nursing. The “breaks” however, were never enough to make sure I stopped suffering mentally afterwards. Finally feeling enough was enough, I left my shift that morning and began to chase a true passion of mine in bird feeding. It’s become paramount in my healing journey and I enjoy waking up to my morning birdsongs. It’s truly been a beautiful journey and I look forward to continuing that journey with you.
